The Hot Holy Mess
The Hot Holy Mess
The Hot Holy Mess

The Hot Holy Mess was conceived in a dream the night after a near-fatal encounter with a mountain-lion in Montana’s Bitterroot valley two Januaries ago. The band developed its psychedelic-folk sound driving vast distances in compact vehicles to play in lofts, concert halls, and art galleries across the country. Earlier in the century, it’s members honed their crafts in the service of artists as diverse as Anthony Braxton, Mos Def, Willie Nelson, and Cyro Baptista. They invented the language of astral phonetics, and will invite you to sing in it with them. Tonight they celebrate the launch of their first 7" phono-zine, Red Wild Eye.

”Resolved dissonance” is one of the very cool things about music - Sonic Youth mastered it to perfection. But honestly I have a hard time thinking about a “clean sounding” band that uses dissonance as purposefully as Brooklyn based super-obscure (but not for long) The Hot Holy Mess.”

—The Deli Magazine (Record of the month, Dec ’11)

“The Hot Holy Mess emerges out of the shadows with an experimental recollection of folk, bluegrass, and rock that feels more like a reawakening than a revisiting of well-traversed genres. The Brooklyn duo croon legato melodies amidst beautiful production, spanning drum machines and mandolins. The Hot Holy Mess is somewhere enjoyable between classic and bizzarre- a perfect space to get lost in.”

—Zen Tapes

“‘Long Ride Down’ …sorts back-beat dynamics with well punctuated melodies that range from long drawn breathes to dotted fragments to produce something original and pure, something intuitively musical.”

—Dingus

“intriguing brand of progressive roots music borrows liberally from funk, gospel, avant-jazz and bluegrass.”

Sky White Tiger
Sky White Tiger
Inspired by works of astrological mythology and the blurred lines between fantasy and reality, five-piece psych-pop band SKY WHITE TIGER formed in Brooklyn in 2009. After a decade of writing, recording, and performing independently with artists as far reaching as Radiohead, David Bowie, Sufjan Stevens, and The Polyphonic Spree, the five life-long brethren decided to take matters into their own paws. After a batch of supporting US tour dates with Rufus Wainwright and a few months in the studio with Brooklyn-based Producer Bryce Goggin, SKY WHITE TIGER has recently completed their debut LP - ELECTRA - to be released in 2012. Whether performing on a concert stage, art gallery, or planetarium dome, SKY WHITE TIGER fuses sound, costume and light design, transforming any space into the Tiger Realm of the endless imagination.
