Xenia Rubinos
Xenia Rubinos
Music maker Xenia Rubinos uses her powerful voice to create beats and melodies from scratch. Xenia's sound grows from a wide range of influences from Caribbean rhythms and beat music to minimalism and indie rock all delivered with a soulful punk aura. Her debut record, Magic Trix, is an ecstatic collection of songs featuring layered beats, crunchy keyboards, and driving syncopated rhythms.
Recorded in a sweaty Brooklyn basement, Magic Trix is a colorful illustration of both Xenia's quirky songwriting and the band's live show. Co-producer/drummer Marco Buccelli helped shape the record's sound, "We experimented with distortion and having an electronic aesthetic on my acoustic drum set. Our overall philosophy was to use what we know and what we have around us to strike a balance between analogic live sound and today's digital perfection." The record was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Grammy award winning engineer Jeremy Loucas. Buccelli's experimentation paired with Loucas' technical prowess scored the team the punchy, live, aggressive sound they were looking for.
Having toured Europe and US , the CubaRican songstress continues touring steadily in support of her new album. Xenia's music has been featured on MTV, WNYC, East Village Radio, The New Yorker, Fader, Vice, and TimeOutNY.
Lady Lamb The Beekeeper
Lady Lamb The Beekeeper
Lady Lamb the Beekeeper is the musical moniker of Aly Spaltro.
Aly primarily grew up in the south west --in Arizona and Nevada--where she spent most of her early childhood years, never more content than when she was making oldies mix tapes with a boombox & flashlight in her closet .
Aly and her family moved to Germany for two years--where she fell in love with the German language,--before settling in her home state of Maine in 2004.
She fell in love with more than a language for the first time in the southern part of Maine, in the same coastal town where her heart was first broken.
Out of these pangs and others came Lady Lamb the Beekeeper, a project which began solely as a means of self-expression & self-reflection during the long, dark winter of 2007 in the scalp of New England.
Lady Lamb the Beekeeper writes sprawling, lyric & melody-based songs about lost , true & unrequited love, nostalgia, nectarine meat, wolf maulings, plum crumb cake & mustard colors, death & Guatemala, airplane rides & airplane crashes, lusting & pining, aubergine & almond colored bedsheets, balance beams hidden in the woods, desert mountain ranges, dreams & nightmares, fawns & fawning, & occasionally "The Neverending Story."
RAILBIRD
RAILBIRD
Railbird is the musical project of Sarah K. Pedinotti (S.K.P) a songwriter and bandleader who mixes pop forms and experimental textures with her evocative lyrics. Based in New York, S.K.P has spent most of her life imagining and constructing her own musical world. Supported by a solid cast of multi-instrumentalists, Railbird is characterized by a tight rhythm section supporting swirling, expansive guitar lines. In the center is S.K.P.'s unique voice and songwriting style, drawing comparisons to Bjork and Kate Bush.
